Reflection
Hello Y'all,
As we wrap up the semester and I reflect back on OLP 4407-5507- Instructional Technology in HRD, I realize how many tools I have learned and mastered. One of the best resources I learned this semester was Screen-O-Cast. I once spent an entire day creating a presentation on imovie that incorporated a slide show and a recording of myself. It was so much work and I remember wishing there was an easier way. When we had to use Screen-O-Cast for a class assignment I realized I could have saved myself hours in making that presentation if I had just used that tool. Another valuable tool I learned this semester is actually this blog itself. I started reading other teaching blogs this semester and it gave me a sense of teamwork within the teaching community. I learned how to blog and use blog which is a huge resource to my future career. I learned so much from reading others blogs. I actually prefer to read blogs now rather then articles because they are typically straight to the point. Another resource I learned this semester that is valuable is using PowerPoint as a photo editing resource. I really like how simple and efficient adding arrows and explanations to a photo is. This is a huge resource for teaching and creating examples. Overall, I learned that technology can make your life easier and teaching more effective if used properly.
Two resources that I have learned as part of my PLN is how to use "Twitter" as an educational resource rather than just reading memes and other peoples drama. While drama can be fun to read about it is also nice to read actual facts and information that pertains to my career and life. The second resource I have added to my PLN is "Linked in". I have grown my connections and thoroughly enjoy reading advice from successful individuals from my intended career path. I have also connected with individuals I have never met in real life but are also Biology teachers in Idaho. Growing my network has actually been really fun and uplifting in finding a job in the near future.
Lastly, I really enjoyed learning about resources and networking platforms that can ultimately make my future easier. The one thing I will never forget from this course was creating the E-book. Once me and the other graduate students finished the E-book, I think we were all very proud. I thought it turned out really well and is a huge resource to look back on. I never thought I would be involved in the creation of putting together a book but I am really glad I did. Overall, I thought this class was really fun and I learned more in one semester about technology, then I learned in all 5 years of college prior.
